Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday said he will not attend Lok Sabha proceedings until a decision is taken on the no-confidence motion by opposition MPs against his chair, sources told Hindustan Times.

The Speaker asked the Lok Sabha Secretary General to examine the no-confidence notice and take appropriate action.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said, “At 1:14 pm today, we moved a motion for a no-confidence motion against the Speaker under 94C Rules and Procedures.”

According to the text of the notice, exclusively accessed by Hindustan Times, the resolution, moved under Article 94(c) of the Constitution, alleged a “clearly biased approach” in the conduct of Lok Sabha proceedings and said leaders of opposition parties were repeatedly not allowed to speak – terming it a fundamental democratic right.
The letter also cites recent examples, including Rahul Gandhi not being allowed to complete his speech during the motion of thanks and eight opposition MPs being suspended.
