Aam Aadmi Party Delhi president Sourav Bharadwaj was detained by the Delhi Police on Sunday when he, along with other AAP leaders, arrived at the spot to take out a candlelight vigil related to the Janakpuri incident, party sources said.

AAP alleged that police personnel stopped the march and detained the leaders despite the fact that the rally was completely non-violent and peaceful in nature.
While being escorted in a police van, Bharadwaj went live on social media and claimed that AAP leaders had visited the spot in Janakpuri where a 25-year-old man named Kamal Dhayani tragically lost his life after his motorcycle fell into an open pit dug for Delhi Jal Board work in West Delhi’s Janakpuri area.
He alleged that police officers snatched candles from their hands and tore up posters bearing the name and picture of the victim.
Bharadwaj also claimed that on the night of the accident, Kamal Dhyan’s friends and relatives sought his location from the police, which was initially shared but later deleted, allegedly delaying the rescue and leading to his death after he was trapped in the pit overnight.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has arrested a person in connection with the death of a 25-year-old man after his motorcycle fell into a deep, uncovered pit dug by the Delhi Jal Board during road work in west Delhi’s Janakpuri area on Sunday.
The arrested person, identified as Yogesh (23), was arrested by the police in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh He will later be brought to Delhi for questioning and formal arrest if necessary.
The accused was present at the scene of an accident where a bike rider fell into a ditch and died. He reported the accident to the subcontractor but fled the scene.
He was employed by sub-contractor Rajesh Prajapati, who was arrested in connection with the same incident on Saturday. The police will seek the contractor’s custody.
On Saturday, the police arrested sub-contractor Prajapati in connection with the death of Kamal Dhyan after he fell into a pit.
The incident took place near B3B Block, Janakpuri, near Andhra School, Professor Yogendra Singh Marg on February 5.
