Donald Trump prays during a group prayer during the National Prayer Breakfast. (Reuters)Voters must show proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote, and mail-in ballots will be closed except in certain cases, he said.

“America’s elections are rigged, stolen and laughed at around the world. We’re either going to fix them, or we won’t have a country anymore. I’m asking all Republicans to fight for the following: Save America Laws!”, Trump said in a social media post.

The “Save America Act” is a new Republican bill in Congress that would require US citizens to show proof of citizenship in person to vote in federal elections.

Trump said in social media posts that voters should show proof of their identity and US citizenship. He also warned against using mail-in ballots except in an emergency.

“1. All voters must show voter ID (identification!). 2. All voters must show proof of US citizenship to register to vote. Travel!)” added the social media post.
