German dictator Hitler’s Nazi Party used a tilted version of the swastika, an ancient religious symbol, as their symbol. The Nazis carried out a racially motivated genocide of Jews, commonly known as the Holocaust, and were ultimately defeated in World War II.

Europe has seen a far-right resurgence in recent years, and Nazi imagery is often used by such groups.
