Seven people were injured and several feared trapped when a three-storey building collapsed in Rajasthan’s Kota on Saturday. The incident reportedly took place in Talwandi area, after which the injured were taken to hospital.

(representative)Rescue operations were underway in the area and seven people have been rescued so far. Police teams reached the area, and cordoned off the spot. News agency PTI reported that the structure was a three-storey building.

On Saturday night, a three-storey building collapsed in Talwandi area, where a restaurant was operating. According to preliminary information, some customers and employees were present in the restaurant at the time of the collapse.

Local MLA Sandeep Sharma also reached the spot and reported that the building collapsed suddenly. “Many people are likely to be trapped. Police and administration rushed to the spot, and rescue operations are underway. Some people have been brought out,” he said.

Samaria said that they started the rescue operation without any delay after receiving the news of the collapse.

He also said that it is not possible to confirm how many people are trapped at this stage.

Rajasthan minister Madan Dilawar called it an “unfortunate incident” and said he had spoken to the administration. “I am told that one casualty has been reported. 5-7 people have been rescued safely. They have been taken to hospital. Rescue and relief operations are on,” ANI quoted him as saying.

In a similar incident last year, a four-storey apartment building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Virar, killing 17 people, HT Report It was built by its landowner without first taking any technical advice or hiring an architect. The land owner hired a labor contractor and used substandard construction materials which led to the collapse of the building.
