The opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics sparked a backlash on social media after several commentators accused the organizers of displaying ‘satanic symbols’. Video of the event, which was attended by VP JD Vance and his wife Usha, is going viral on social media. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has yet to comment on the allegations.

In the first for the Winter Games, two Olympic cauldrons were lit, one in Milan’s Arco della Pace and the other in Cortina’s town square, following the final torch carried by Italian Olympic champion Sophia Goggia.
Soon, videos of the event surfaced on social media. Users slammed the organizers saying they might end up seeing an upside-down pentagram.
“Of course, we got a satanic pentagram to end the Olympics opening ceremony from demonic globalists trying to destroy the West. They’re not even trying to hide it,” one person wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Look at this shameless worship of a flaming pentagram at the Olympics opening ceremony. They play choral music like it’s a sacred ceremony. Liberalism has always been rampant with Luciferians who think Satan is a hero who brought knowledge to Adam and Eve,” tweeted another.
“It really doesn’t get more in your face than this… a clearly visible upside-down pentagram at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Methodology revelation. As if you needed more proof that this world is run by the devil and his minions,” wrote a third person on X.
However, there is no evidence to support these theories.
The Paris Olympics ControversyIn 2024, a fake video attributed to USA Today claimed that the Church of Satan thanked Olympic organizers for a controversial tableau at the Games’ opening ceremony.
The video refers to a statue during the Olympic opening ceremony depicting a pagan feast similar to Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper”, which angered Christian groups and prompted an apology from Olympic organizers.
