A 35-year-old AIADMK member was allegedly murdered and beheaded by unidentified persons near Thiruparakundram in Madurai district on Friday following a family dispute, sparking political unrest in poll-bound Tamil Nadu.
The killing of an AIADMK worker sparked political controversy”The deceased has been identified as Dhansekara Pandian alias Senthil Kumar, the district head of the AIADMK Youth of Samanatham village,” said a Madurai police official. “He ran a tea shop in Samanatham area and when he went to open it around 6 am, four suspects killed him,” police said.
Confirming the development, Leader of Opposition and party general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) condemned the ruling MK Stalin-led government and demanded speedy justice for the victims.
“I repeat – under this DMK regime, criminals have no fear before committing any crime. Where does the courage to do such barbaric acts like beheading and killing criminals come from?” He said “And I request Stalin’s DMK government to take strictest legal action against all those involved in Senthil’s brutal murder,” EPS said. “Let me say one more time – if the people of Tamil Nadu want to live in security, the first step towards that is the complete overthrow of this brutal DMK regime.”
A DMK leader said: “The incident is unfortunate and the police is investigating it and will arrest the suspects soon.”
“Law enforcement will prosecute whoever the victim is.”
