Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky has come out with an emotional account of how the infamous Bill Clinton scandal of 1998 still affects her life today.

Brown/AFP)In a candid conversation with Jamila Jamil on her podcast “Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky,” she recounts the trauma of losing control of her narrative nearly 30 years after her relationship became a global media sensation. He said he lives “with a lot of fear” because of the public humiliation and scrutiny that followed the scandal.

Lewinsky’s emotional statement: “I still live in fear”In her interview with actress Jamila Jamil, Lewinsky opened up about the difficulty of seeing her life dissected by the media at a time when she had no platform to defend herself.
Speaking with Lewinsky, Jamil described her emotions in her own words and said, “Back then you had no outlet to have control over your own narrative.” Jamil then asked Lewinsky’s current situation after years of relentless public scrutiny.
Lewinsky admits there are still lingering scars from the past. “I still live in a lot of fear … it’s making me emotional … that everything I’ve built in the last 11 years … will be taken away again.”
However, she said she felt more comfortable with herself. “I feel like I’ve shed the hurt skin for myself since the old days,” Lewinsky said.
She also added that she now feels “more confident” that she can “do more of myself in the world and it’s reflected in me that this is what I’ve got.”
Lewinsky became a household name after her consensual affair with then-President Bill Clinton came to light. The incident led to his impeachment proceedings.

Recalling his narrativeSince the affair scandal, Lewinsky has gone on to reclaim her own narrative and has been vocal about fighting cyberbullying and online harassment.
She launched the “Recovery with Monica Lewinsky” podcast series, where she dives into the scandal that cost Bill Clinton the presidency and made her a household name.
Lewinsky is using her podcast as an opportunity to clarify her story, examine what she did wrong, and redefine her identity beyond the Oval Office scandal.
