Additionally, India has denied the involvement of any other country in the attack by Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. “It is unfortunate that, instead of seriously dealing with the problems plaguing its social fabric, Pakistan should choose to delude itself by blaming others for its home-grown ills. India rejects any such allegations, which are as baseless as they are meaningless,” the MEA said.
31 killed, over 150 injured in blast in IslamabadIndia’s statement came after blasts ripped through Islamabad, killing dozens of people and injuring more than 150, some of whom were said to be in critical condition. The blast took place during Friday prayers and according to the Islamabad police, it was an attack and an investigation has been launched.

Visuals from the blast site showed bloodied bodies lying on the floor of the mosque amid broken glass and debris as people frantically called for help.
After the blast, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said it was a suicide attack and that a man “blew himself up in the last row of worshippers”. He also claimed that the attacker had a history of travel to Afghanistan and pointed out that India was involved without providing any evidence, a claim which India rejected.

Witnesses said the assailant first opened fire on people at the mosque before detonating the suicide bomb, Geo News reported. The main gate is at least 30 meters away from the Imambargah gate. When the assailant reached the main gate, the guards of the religious institution tried to stop him, after which there was an exchange of fire. He then ran at least 20 meters inside and blew himself up during prayers, the Geo report added.
