At a time when faith turns into spectacle and morality bends to convenience, Mandali uses the fading world of Ramlila to depict a society struggling to hold on to its conscience.

Director Rakesh Chaturvedi Om’s film questions the cost of choosing righteousness when it’s easier to compromise. The story tells of Purshottam Chowbi aka Puru (Abhisk two), a college student in Mathura, who plays Lord Laxman in Ramleela and believes it is a prayer, not a performance. He was trained by his uncle Ramsevak (Vineet Kumar), Puru’s faith was shaken when public humiliation drove his mentor off the stage, pushing him into a lonely moral struggle. As Puru faces love, caste rejection, sabotage and political pressure, the film shows how power often wears a mask of loyalty and tradition loses its meaning without sincerity. His relationship with Bunty (Anchal Munjal) sharpens the criticism of social hypocrisy.“Mandali” feels relevant because it reflects a truth that many avoid: ideals celebrated on stage rarely live up to reality. Still, the film finds hope in Puru’s refusal to quit, suggesting that faith can be reborn if one dares to stand alone.Producer Prashant Kumar Gupta, Neetu Sabarwal and Gitika Gupta, Mandali will release on October 27.
