Irani honey told about her son Farhan Akhtarseparation from his first wife Adhuna Bhabani, his relationship with Shibani Dandekaras well as the philosophy that guided her as a mother when making her children’s most personal decisions.Farhan Akhtar married Shibana Dandekar on 19 February 2022 in an intimate ceremony in Khandala after almost three years of relationship. Before that, Farhan was married to the famous hairdresser Adhuni Bhabani for 16 years. The couple divorced in 2017 and have two daughters, Shakya and Akira.Farhan and Shibani first met in 2015 on the sets of the TV show I Can Do It, which he hosted and she participated in. After his divorce from Adhuna, Farhan started dating Shibani in 2018.
“We were all sad”
Recalling the time when Farhan and Adhuna decided to separate, Hani Irani admitted that the separation was emotionally difficult for the entire family.“It was sad for all of us — Farhan and Adhuna too. But I feel like I’ve said before, if something has to end, it’s better that way than to continue with disappointment, pain and resentment,” she said in a recent interview with Vicky Lalwani.
“I didn’t see that at all”
Hani admitted that the separation was a shock for her.
“No, I didn’t see it at all. It was quite sudden for me. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, that happened?’ It was a shock,” she shared.She added that Farhan had informed her about the decision even though she was away at the time. “He told me, but I was in Coonoor at the time. I was briefed about it and later when I came back we all sat and talked – both sides. I met everyone.”
“Shibani is great, very friendly”
Speaking warmly of Farhan’s wife Shibani Dandekar, Hani Irani had nothing but praise.“She’s great — very sweet and very friendly,” she said, adding later: “She’s a lovely girl. A lovely girl indeed.’

“If you’re happy, I’m happy”
When asked about her approach as a mother to her children’s personal lives, Honey summed it up with a clear, no-nonsense philosophy.“My only mantra in life is if you’re happy, I’m happy. I don’t care about anybody. That’s it. If the child is happy, what else do you want? If the mother is happy, what else do you want? It doesn’t matter what people say, what they think. Never think about it. Do what makes you happy. Just don’t hurt anybody,” she said. On whether Farhan spoke to her about his relationship with Shibani in the beginning, Honey said he didn’t share details at first.“No, he didn’t tell me before. But the fact that they were seeing each other had to come out at some point,” she added.
