Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, went missing from her Pima County, Arizona home on Saturday (January 30). The search continues with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office at a crime scene from the home she disappeared from.

(x)Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon that they suspect foul play, as they believe Nancy Guthrie did not leave her own home. Sheriff Nanos also confirmed that Nancy Guthrie has no cognitive problems, describing her as “sharp as a tack.”

“I have never been prouder of my older brother,” he wrote. “He has flown for our country for 26 years, and continues to proudly serve in the ‘Green Mountain Boys’ – Vermont Air National Guard.

“He is the pride of our family and one of the best in this country,” he added.

The Guthrie family issued a statement about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance that appeared on the “Today” show Monday morning.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” it read. “Right now, our focus is on the safe return of our beloved Nancy.”
