dear reader,
At Hindustan Times, we’re listening: Take our short reader survey, and tell us how you prefer to get your news (HT Photo)Newsrooms like to say they put their readers and viewers first. But with information flowing at breakneck speed in today’s digital multiverse, they sometimes find it hard to pause and connect with the people they serve. Please consider this note a part of that break.
We find ourselves in the midst of tremendous change — a shift in how news is discovered, consumed, and most importantly trusted. Although this shift began many years ago, it has reached a critical stage with the democratization of cellular data and the AI revolution. Public trust is not simply inherited; It is not anyone’s congregation. It needs to be earned, sometimes anew with each new story, each new reader. And we must earn.
In this rapidly evolving world, you, dear reader, have been the constant. And we remain grateful. Journalism has never been about standing on a pedestal and delivering information. We stand among you, in direct relationship with each of you. And like any relationship, it will only work when there is honesty and reciprocity. Metrics, charts and dashboards tell us what is being consumed, but you can tell us why. And what we might be missing.
Understanding you better is deeply important to us. What informed your decision? Which format respects your time and habits? Do any stories seem irrelevant or repetitive? These questions and their answers are important.
And to that effect, we created one Brief survey As a small but important step to put you front and center in everything we do. Your feedback will help us make better choices.
