Homicide investigators have been called in amid an urgent search for the mother of NBC Today show host Savannah Guthrie, who was reported missing Saturday night.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said foul play is still a possibility and drones, aircraft and canine units provided by Customs and Border Protection are being used in search efforts.

The sheriff’s office indicated the missing woman is classified as a “vulnerable adult” due to her age. However, there are no known “cognitive issues” associated with him, Nanos said.
In a statement, Guthrie’s family said: “We can confirm this is a missing persons case, and the family is working closely with local law enforcement.”
