The allocation for Delhi under the 2026-27 Union Budget, a first for the new BJP rule in the city, remains unchanged. ₹1,348 crore, the same amount as the previous year.

According to budget documents, Delhi received ₹ 951 crore as central assistance for Union Territories. (PTI)Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed the budget, highlighting that it was a step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a ‘developed India’.

Total transfer for Delhi from Union Home Ministry is ₹1348.01 crore including Rs ₹968.01 crore under revenue and ₹380 crore under capital as per Union Budget 2026-27.

These figures reflect the budget estimates for the financial year 2025-26

According to budget documents, Delhi has received ₹951 crore as central assistance to Union Territories, which is intended to finance various projects of the city governments.

Its an additional central support ₹380 crore as externally aided project for Chandrawal water treatment plant to improve the existing water supply infrastructure, ensure balanced water distribution in the command area and a continuous (24×7) supply system.

The city also received grants ₹2 crore for compensation to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, and ₹15 crore as grant for contribution to Union Territories Disaster Response Fund for providing relief in case of notified disasters like earthquake, drought and flood.

As per the budget estimates for 2025-26, there was a shift to Delhi ₹1348.01 crore. In the revised estimates for 2025-26, the amount was reduced ₹1242 crores.

This is what the Chief Minister of Delhi said ₹1.4 lakh crore to states as rural and urban local bodies and disaster management grants, will help them move forward.

Gupta also informed that Delhi is going to be connected to a high-speed rail network, noting that the construction of the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor is a historic step towards fulfilling the ambition of a ‘Bhikshit Bharat’.
