Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday called the Union Budget 2026-27 a “historic document”, adding that it lays a strong foundation for India’s golden and prosperous future.

(PTI)After watching Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Union Budget speech at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office at Kushavau Thackeray in Raipur, Sai said the budget prepared at the Kartavya Bhavan focuses on three key responsibilities – economic growth and job creation, fulfilling the aspirations of the people, and strengthening the spirit of sathaka.
He said Chhattisgarh would directly benefit from several provisions announced.

Citing India’s steady economic growth of around 7%, Sai attributed the progress to the prime minister’s strong leadership and visionary vision. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the budget will prove to be a milestone for the upliftment of the poor, farmers, youth, women, middle class and working class,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the budget included major measures to increase the income of farmers and strengthen the rural economy. “Plans have been outlined to increase agricultural productivity through artificial intelligence and modern technology, promote animal husbandry and dairy sector and generate employment through local industries and handicrafts under the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj initiative,” he added.
He said that Budget 2026 lays special emphasis on job creation for the youth, new opportunities are expected in startups, MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), manufacturing and tourism.

Promotion of tourism will accelerate local economic growth and create employment opportunities for young people in their own regions, he said, adding that foreign travel and overseas education will be more affordable.
Talk about allocation ₹10,000 crore in the biopharma sector, Sai said would help reduce drug costs for serious diseases like cancer and diabetes. “Healthcare has received a significant boost with plans to upgrade district hospitals, set up emergency and trauma centers in every district and promote mental health services and Ayurveda. Five regional centers will also be set up across the state for medical tourism, improving healthcare services and creating employment,” he added.
The Chief Minister also said that the expansion of the Lakhpati Didi scheme will support women through credit-linked self-employment and entrepreneurship, while the announcement of girls’ hostels in every district will improve access to higher education.

To strengthen economic infrastructure, Sai said the finance minister has announced seven high-speed rail corridors, 20 new waterways, major textile parks, mineral corridors in four states and growth. Funding for Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). ₹40,000 crores.
He added that the income tax system has been simplified, providing relief to small taxpayers. “Prices of several daily use items including medicine, clothing, footwear, mobile phones, EV batteries, solar equipment and biogas-CNG are expected to come down, which will provide direct relief to the public,” he said.
“The Union Budget 2026-27 reinforces the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas and Sabka Biswas and will ensure inclusive development in Chhattisgarh and the entire country,” he said.
