Two unidentified miscreants shot a cloth merchant and fled ₹6 lakh in cash, which he brought to an ATM center at the State Bank of India office in Koti, Hyderabad on Saturday morning, police said.

The victim has been identified as PV Rinshad (26), a businessman from Kerala who deals in ready-made children’s clothing and currently resides in Nampally.
“He sustained injuries on his leg and is currently undergoing treatment. He is reported to be out of danger,” said Koganti Shilpaballi, deputy commissioner of police, Khairatabad zone.
In a separate statement, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanor said a special team has been formed to trace the accused.
“A case under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 309 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) along with Section 27 of the Arms Act, 1959 has been registered at the Sultanbazar police station,” he said.
Commissioner said Rinshad came to Hyderabad on January 7 ₹6 lakhs for purchase of wholesale stock in Dewan Devadi. As the purchase did not materialize, his cousin Mishban advised him to deposit the cash in his bank account through an ATM at SBI Money Branch, Bank Street, Koti in a car belonging to his friend Amir.
Srijnar said two unidentified men approached the victim from behind and threatened him with a firearm on his stomach. The assailants then fired two rounds, one of which hit the complainant in the right leg, and fled the scene in the victim’s car, taking away the cash bag and car keys.
The assailants proceeded towards Nimbliadda, Kachigura, where they abandoned the vehicle. After changing their clothes, they fled on foot towards Kachiguda X Road, the commissioner said.
“Special teams are analyzing CCTV footage, tracking technical evidence and coordinating with neighboring jurisdictions to nab the absconding accused at the earliest,” he added.
The DCP said the accused appeared to have rescheduled before the attack. “They came to the ATM from a nearby bus stop and targeted him. One round was fired, reportedly from a country-made pistol,” he said.
Shilapapalli, who visited the spot, said preliminary investigations indicated that the assailants had re-examined and targeted Rinshad when he was depositing money.
