A 38-year-old woman and her two children were crushed by a moving train between Cherlapally and Ghatkesar railway stations on the outskirts of Hyderabad in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.

Police: Woman, 2 children hit by train in suspected suicide in Telangana”We suspect that they committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train,” said a Secunderabad General Railway Police (GRP) official.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was a software professional, while her daughter was studying in class 12 and her son was studying in class 11, the official said.

According to police, the railway police received an alert around 12.40 pm from the loco pilot of a freight train over the adjacent track that three bodies were lying on the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) track near Cherlapally railway station.

Based on the preliminary investigation and the statement of the loco pilot, the police suspect the incident to be a case of suicide, as no train ticket was found with the deceased. Police said no suicide note was found.

“We have shifted the bodies to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for post-mortem. We have informed the family members and through them we will find out the cause of death,” said a railway police official, adding that an unusual death case has been registered in this regard.
