After filming an anti-ICE protest at City’s Church in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area, Don Lemon issued a fiery response to his arrest days after being a part of the group. It comes days after 37-year-old Renee Nicole Goode and Alex Pretti were shot by federal agents, sparking protests across Minnesota.

His attorney, Abbey Lowell, issued a statement.

Don Lemon’s ferocious response to the arrest “Last night, while covering the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, federal agents arrested Don Lemon. Don has been a journalist for thirty years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different from his previous work. The purpose of the First Amendment is to safeguard journalists, whose job it is to expose the truth rather than elevate those in positions of authority like Don. It said, “This work.”

It was a ‘unprecedented attack on the First Amendment,’ Lowell continued.

“Trump’s Justice Department is spending time, energy, and resources on this arrest and the actual accusation of misconduct in this case rather than looking into the federal agents who killed two peaceful protesters in Minnesota. This is a blatant attempt to divert attention from the numerous crises the courts are currently facing and an unprecedented assault on the First Amendment.

“This is absurd and intolerable. America’s First Amendment is being attacked. Jim Acosta, Lemon’s former coworker at CNN, wrote on X, the website that was formerly known as Twitter.
